When Ken Johnson went shopping for new equipment that would automate his screen printing process, he wasn’t thinking about making his life easier.

Instead, he bought the new-to-him screen printing press to make life easier for customers of Specialty Screen Printing, the print shop he runs with his wife, Linda.

The screen printing press helps him deliver work faster to his customers and also enables the print shop to print longer runs. It also has room for larger images – up to 25 inches by 38 inches.

Ken plans to use it to print posters, signs, and other jobs with longer print runs.

The press automates the process of applying ink, something Ken previously did by hand, even with orders that required hundreds or more pieces. Automation doesn’t mean any less attention to each printed piece, though. Ken watches as each piece is printed to ensure quality.

The additional printing capacity supplements the custom screen printing work Ken does for electronics components, safety signage, metal parts, and product labels.

Even though Specialty Screen Printing is still a small shop, it’s growing and it can handle bigger and bigger jobs with its new equipment. And just as he does when planning new purchases, Ken always puts his customers first.
