Recently I drove past a business that had Kraft paper taped up in its windows for light filtering and privacy. This certainly served its purpose, but from the outside, it resembled a boarded-up building. If you want to suggest to people that your business is empty and prime for vandalism or burglary, having an abandoned look is the way to do it.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF WINDOW FILMS?
Using window films instead of Kraft paper or unsightly materials can be the perfect solution for businesses that want to show that the building is occupied during these times of COVID-19 – yet retain enough privacy that people can’t walk up and peer in.
One thing I can do for my customers is to actually screenprint on window films that are designed just for that purpose.
Designing with printed window films has many advantages. Today’s window films are durable and available in a variety of materials. They can be accentuated with screen printing in an array of colors. Printed window films are perfect for branding or messaging. They can include a pleasant or functional design.
Using printed window films helps you demonstrate pride of ownership and professionalism, and they can be a major security feature and asset.
HOW CAN BUSINESSES USE WINDOW FILMS FOR BRANDING AND DESIGN?
Here are a few examples of how screen printed window films can be used in a business.
- Add the company’s logo and tagline on a holographic background film so it appears to be animated or change colors when someone drives past. This is an eye-catching and affordable solution to show that the building is occupied, especially in times when so many are working from home.
- If you need to reduce glare or sunlight, you can use an attractive window film to filter just the right amount of light. If you need to reduce UV transmission, we can help you choose the material. We can use perforated materials or frosted, with variations to meet your needs. If you require complete light-blocking, we can help you pick something attractive.
- Printing can be done on one side or both, which gives you amazing design opportunities and creativity. We can print one color or combine many, and even combine it with a color film for even more pizzazz.
- Incorporate films that have a frosted appearance or a textured design that reduces the ability to see in, but allows plenty of light for the people working inside. I have seen this used halfway up a plate glass window in a restaurant where the inside had been converted from a sit-down operation to a staging area for take-out food. The frosted window film is professional yet shows the business is open when the lights are on.
- Printed window films are ideal for promoting contests, discounts, and special offers so the messaging can be seen by people driving or walking past. I can print your brand colors, scale your designs, and include interactive elements such as QR codes.
- Align all branding and offers between the various locations of the business. This is perfect for credit unions, fast food chains, convenience stores, gas stations, dry cleaners, and businesses that rely on walk-in traffic.
HOW CAN WINDOW FILMS BE USED CREATIVELY TO SHOW THE BUILDING IS ACTIVE?
One excellent way to use window films is to put branding on the side windows of a corner building. Often a company’s signage is placed only on one side. When you are sited on a corner, using branded window films allows you to catch the attention of people from all directions, especially with oversized designs. This, too, is a way to claim the space if your corner building faces a side street or alley.
No one should ever question that the building is regularly active and occupied.
Finally, if you are leasing your business space and can’t make major changes or add signage, using temporary window film options will let you change your designs seasonally. If the films are engineered to do so, they can be removed and reused when you move out. If you want permanent window films, we can do that, too.
